Hello All,
I arrived after a very long 12 HOUR FLIGHT to a beautiful orange Ouzzie sunrise morning at 6:05 am. Linda was waiting to meet me and we drove away on the other side of the road. It sure looked a lot like Southern California to me. After a shower and breakfast, no rest for the wicked, we drove to Surfers Paradise so I could check out the temperature of the water. A bit too cold for a swim. We then drove along the beach front to the Spit and walked out the seawall. It was a beautiful, flat, sparkling water kind of day. No whales were spotted but they are returning and we will go out to see them on a boat trip. We then drove through various suburbs, with lots of difference state of road works in progress. We drove by Linda's last adobe of 8 years ago and stopped by her friend Mandy's and saw their house on Biggera Creek. We are hoping her son Michael takes us for a dingy motor boat ride along the Broadwater tomorrow if it doesn't rain. The clouds are forming and the weather man said rain for a week. I went to bed at 7pm and was asleep as my head hit the pillow. Linda said I was snoring 1 minute after I shut the door.
Day 2 and we drove through the middle of Surfers Paradise, along to Broadbeach, by Linda's school and stopped at Nobby's Beach. I went down to check out the water temperature and collected a few small shells. We then drove to Burleigh Heads and walked for a good hour along the Headland and up through the bush. We finally heard some birds and saw some lizards. I will post pictures later, when we figure that out. We (meaning Linda) then drove to Currumbin beach at Snapper rocks. The waves are so small, not many surfers out. We did another walk with me on the beach and Linda along the footpath (sidewalk). Linda was a bit tired so we went home so she could have a rest before the Rugby League match. I enjoyed the 'football'. The fans definitely are subdued compared to the Hawkeye fans. When we got home we could watch over half the match on TV as it was a delayed telecast. Because this was the last home game and the team won they are in the playoffs for the Grand final. So we are getting tickets for next Saturday's match.
Day 3 We so thought it was going to rain and Linda needed to use the phone and internet to book a lot of things we are going to do next week, she got me painting around the frames and one of her 2 garage doors. We're going a little stir crazy so we will go off this afternoon to do something.
I can't get enough of looking at the water. It's so clear and blue green, like water in Key West, Florida.
Got to go. Later.
Dave
The pictures are great. Looks like a very awesome place so far. Nick thought you looked like you were having fun. Especially when he saw the "meter maids". When Dakotah saw the meter maids she said "see I told you he wasn't coming back.HAHA. Nick says hope you have a good time at the reef. Can't wait to see those photos.
ReplyDeleteAll for now.
Lots of Love
